Dr. Shaykh Abdul Ghaffar Khanholds a Ph.D. from Temple University, Philadelphia, USA, in Comparative Study of Religion with special reference to Islamic Philosophy and Theology. He has been awarded Gold Medal by Peshawar University of Pakistan for his double M.A. in Islamic Studies and Arabic language.
Dr. Shaykh Abdul Ghaffar Khan is a hafiz of the Qur'an and completed Islamic 'Ulum from Darul Uloom Sarhad, Peshawar, Pakistan. He is also a qari of the ten variant readings from Darul Qurra, Peshawar, Pakistan
Dr. Shaykh Abdul Ghaffar Khan has worked as the director of the Atlanta Dar al-Uloom, al-Farooq Masjid, Atlanta, Georgia, USA from November 1991 till April 1996. He also taught at the post-graduate level for over ten years at Peshawar University, Pakistan. In addition to that, he has a vast experience in teaching the Islamic sciences and hifz al-Qur’an al-Karim with Tajweed.
In August 1996, the institute started its academic program in a rented facility in the city of Lawrenceville, Georgia. Presently, the institute campus comprises of a large masjid, a 22,000 square feet school building, an event hall, and several residential houses spread over 13 acres of land in the heart of Lawrenceville, in Gwinnett County Georgia.
The institute has also, by the Grace of Almighty Allah, succeeded in establishing an independent Muslim Cemetery on 5 acres of land ten minutes from the main campus.
The institute aims to provide a masjid and separate academic, educational and recreational facilities for both male and female Muslim students, regardless of their national origin or ethnic background.
The institute houses boarding and lodging facilitieson the premises of the main campus. This allows students to have a healthy environment favorable to their faith and their spiritual, moral, intellectual and academic growth and development. Students are giventhe opportunity to continue their secular education via various online and remote schooling programs.
